OK, so I'm in ableton and ive got my kick situated and I'd like to add an open hihat, but how do I sequence the sample on the open hihat layer through the same track as the kick drum? I thought you were able to have all your drums processed through a single track..
I hope this question makes sense

Hi!
The open hihat drum layer is triggered in Slot 4 of the MIDI editor. You use almost the same process as described in
Building the Kick Drum Part 1: MIDI Setup found in the
Kick Drum Design Tutorial. The only difference is that instead of writing your notes in Slot 1 of the MIDI editor, you use Slot 4.
The mappings for each Slot are determined by the order of the drum layers. So,
bd is Slot 1,
snare is Slot 2,
chat is Slot 3,
ohat is Slot 4 and so on.
If you have a MIDI keyboard, the notes C3, D3, E3, F3, G3, A3, B3, and C4 also trigger the different drum layers.
This way you can write all of your drums using just one MIDI track
