Hey forum,
I'm a keen pianist who is in love with digital funky house style music (like stardusts music sounds better with you), which i knows is sampled, but I wanna get into making stuff. I have nothing at the moment, except a trial version of Ableton Live 6. I'm willing to invest in all the necessary stuff cause I've been wanting to do this for a long long time. No matter where I go on the internet there are NO tutorials on what you need and how to set yourself up. I've had a talk to a few of my DJ friends, and they telll me MIDI Controller (keyboard to plug into computer?) I think, and one of those pad thingo's you push with your fingers. I understand this shit can get so complicated and it all depends on what you wanna do, but I'm just curious as to which keyboard I should invest in, I'm looking to spend around 800 AUS dollars on the hardware (everything, not just keyboard), and I have no idea where to begin. I would be very grateful if someone here could nudge me in the right direction as for what I wanna be looking at. I'm thinkin a 61 key keyboard.
Thanks heaps in advance, finding this forum has sparked my hope in learning all this =P
cheers

HI SKripi,
I always advise new people to try most demos of software then use the one they feel is best suited to them.
However i also strongly advise Cubase. Most people will scream and shout "hell no, not for a beginner" but as i teach cubase and have
free tutorials on my web site (and soon real time support and a weekly conference online) i believe anyone can use this software.
check my web site out in my signature, the website is undergoing an overhaul at the minute so it may be a bit sketchy but you will get the idea and see what the site has to offer.
explore and enjoy
Mark

Thanks for the reply
I've had a look at a few different demo's, and I've found LIVE to be the most comfortable to use. I've had a look at your demo's, and I think I can get used to using Cubase though. If I learnt live properly, should I just stick with live? or should I move around programs as I get better with it all?

Personally if you have tried several demos and live feels right for you i
would stick to live.
good luck with it all.
