There was a good question posted on the Ableton forums about DrumStack's audio bussing. Here is my response:

I want all the kicks to go to one out put, but this does not seem possible.
ANY ideas?

Hi!

Are you interested in bussing the audio into another track for the purposes of adding audio effects? If so, it is easier to just add effects after the Impulse. Just drag an effect directly to the right of the Impulse to add it to the signal chain. NOTE: If you drag it too far, the effect will be added to the whole DrumStack.

If you want to render an individual drum channel (e.g. just kick drums) to a new audio file, then you need to bus the audio to a new audio channel. Use the following steps to accomplish this:

  1. Create a new audio track

  2. Change the audio input type from Ext In to the name of your MIDI track that has DrumStack.

  3. Select the input channel of the DrumStack that you wish to record. For example, select DrumStack | bd | Post Mixer

  4. Arm the track for recording

  5. Turn on the global record

  6. Press play

Hope this answers your question Smile Also, thanks to everyone for the positive feedback!

Hey, but what if you wanted to route the kick to another track (say for submixing with the bass) & not render it to an audio file first. I banged my head against that for a while and couldn't figure out how to do it. Jacking the input of another audio track into the post fx kick works fine to pull the kick, but it is still coming out of the regular outputs on the drum track... any way to do this?

Yeah. I cant see how I would be able to route say the snare/ hats to more than one return track. Is it possible or do I have to seperate those into seperate tracks. Thanks
