While starting the skin editor reports

"Error unhandled exception NilObject the program must close etc.."
and then crashes to desktop.
Can anybody help?
Matt have you got any idea?

btw bravo, it's a hell of a utility. I use ableton for very long sessions
and working with a skin/skins that i like
is much more than just esthetics.
Very Happy

Hmmm...I have an idea of what might be causing this. Would you mind privately testing a special debug version? That's the only way I can get the bottom of it.

Thanks for testing the software.

Sure!
Just send me a message with the link to the download and/or info about
what should I do to help or email me to my profile's mail.

Just wanted to add that I'm almost done with the debug build! I'll send it ASAP.

Thanks again.

Good & bad news. Good news: I found what is causing the bug. The bad news is that I can't fix it until I upgrade my development software. Since it will be very expensive to upgrade it, it might be a while before this problem gets fixed.

Very soon this site will begin selling products so that should cover the software costs. Don't worry, the bug will be fixed soon enough.

Hi Matt,

Had some free time so I thought I'd give the recently download Skin Editor a spin...

Software Version 1.1b

The application opens up. As soon as the mouse cursor rolls over the Preview area, this Windows 'Critical Stop' warning box pops up with:

"An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down."

Clicking on the OK button a total of 50 times either; a) shuts down the program, or b) a different warning appears...

"An exception of class StackOverflowException was not handled. The application must shut down."

multiple clicks later on the OK button and crash - time for the three finger salut!

Zola mentioned something about the Quick Time Player version 4 or greater - I don't have QT loaded on my music PC and don't want it either. Is there a .dll file that I'm missing? My system is definitely not the latest, but I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 and using Ableton Live Lite 5.

Any clues?

Hmmm...I'm not sure what is causing the problem. However, it very well might be fixed in the next version because I'm using a newer version of the development software. The next release is almost done and I'll be sending out a newsletter to you when it is ready. Thanks for testing the editor. Smile
